In 2604 AD, humanity detected the first signs of alien civilization among the vast stars, more than a thousand light-years away: the ruins of a glorious star city!

To that end, humanity used genetic technology to create perfect beings, the New Humans, then sent their embryos away from Earth and into the depths of space to search for planets where they could survive and evolve.
Later, Luo Wang and three companions boarded humanity's first true interstellar spacecraft. Following the New Humans' route, they crossed star systems and traveled countless light-years. Along the way, they built one massive factory after another, like an unstoppable steel torrent, driving the continued development of humanity among the stars.
Over the course of this centuries-long journey, the birth and destruction of civilizations across the universe unfolded before the eyes of Luo Wang and his companions. One crisis after another clung to them like demons, yet each time they managed to break free.
