Fallen into the Underworld, I Forgot You

I was pregnant with the King of Hell's child, but he rewrote my name in the Book of Life and Death.

He said I wasn't his true wife. The little maid who had spent a hundred years reincarnating through the Animal Realm was the one he'd been searching for all these millennia.

He resented me for taking the place of his beloved, and cast me into reincarnation to suffer every torment and atone for my sins.

As my soul was about to dissipate, he appeared with his arm around the little maid's waist, asking me if I knew what I'd done wrong.

I nodded, laughing through blood and tears.

I was wrong. I was wrong to have loved him so deeply in my previous life, and wrong not to have stayed away from him in this one.

So, before leaving for good, I willingly drank Granny Meng's soup and chose to forget him forever.

I would forget my thousand years of waiting, his ten-thousand-year vow, and the promises we'd made in every life. We would never meet again, in this world or the next!

But after he watched me perish with his own eyes, he went mad.
