Any War Stories? Looking for Something Detailed

The battles shouldn't be glossed over. The author should analyze them in detail, whether they're offensive or defensive, and describe how different troop types work together. Those things are secondary, though. Most importantly, the story should showcase the protagonist's or enemy's command skills, rather than having them win through brute force.

Looking for Epic War Stories

The protagonist shouldn't be a national leader, but the embodiment of the nation's will, like a country's fortune. They can control the direction and strategies of a country's development, kind of like playing Hearts of Iron, and can also talk to the leader and guide the country's growth.
