Everything began to change when a woman from the northern deserts came to the capital. Determined to change it all, she defied propriety and submitted a petition to the court, earning the name of a bewitching temptress who led the ruler astray as she set out to reform the troubled dynasty. The price she paid was brutal: friends were punished because of her, confidants were left disabled because of her, her beloved went mad because of her, and her closest family died because of her. She watched it all unfold before being tortured to death by a thousand cuts. Reborn, she understood that success did not come in a day or a moment. She concealed her brilliance and plotted in secret. With the face of a beautiful, sickly woman, she turned the court upside down. Mad beauty vs. scheming power minister Set in a fictional dynasty. Don't read too much into the historical details.
