Synopsis

Li Shizhen, courtesy name Dongbi and sobriquet Binhu, was born in Qizhou, Huguang (present-day Qichun, Hubei). A renowned medical scholar of the Ming dynasty, he wrote the Compendium of Materia Medica, hailed as "the great compendium of Eastern medicine." Born into a family of physicians, Li Shizhen developed a deep interest in medicine from an early age. He traveled widely, collecting medicinal specimens and studying their properties and effects. Through years of practice, he gained extensive clinical experience and developed unique insights into treating many diseases. The publication of the Compendium of Materia Medica profoundly influenced the development of Chinese medicine and made an important contribution to medicine around the world. The Compendium of Materia Medica comprises 52 volumes divided into 16 sections. It also contains a wealth of knowledge about health and wellness. Although its contents are extensive, the book also has some errors and shortcomings. When using the Compendium of Materia Medica for health and wellness, readers should combine its knowledge with modern medical science and methods to make informed, reasonable choices. (This book covers nearly everything found in the Compendium of Materia Medica. Blending ancient and modern knowledge, it explores traditional and contemporary approaches to health and wellness, combining Chinese and Western medicine in an accessible way. It can serve as supplementary reading and help preserve and promote the cultural heritage of traditional Chinese medicine. The book also covers many everyday foods, including japonica rice, indica rice, wheat, and barley. Don't forget to look after your health while enjoying your leisure time.) Thank you, dear readers, for your gifts, tips, and recommendations. Reading this book is like breezing through the Compendium of Materia Medica! Remember to encourage your family and friends to take care of their health, too. Wishing you all good health and success in everything! Merry Christmas!
