The Southwest Bandit Suppression Campaign

In 1949, the Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan, leaving behind agents and defeated troops across Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and much of the Southwest. They colluded with local bandits and formed groups such as the Loyal and Righteous National Salvation Army and anti-Communist guerrilla columns, hoping to destroy the newly established People’s Government. Led by Wang Li, our bandit-suppression task force relied on local authorities and the people to fight the Kuomintang bandits under Li Sanhu.
