The Land Abandoned by God

In a time of national crisis, China's ace pilot Chen Dingrui and Zhang Sujie, a Chinese American adopted son, risk everything to transport supplies from Hong Kong behind enemy lines. In the most difficult days, the two captains struggle to keep two air routes operating, forging a deep brotherly bond. The China National Aviation Corporation invests everything in building an airport at Myitkyina, but just after construction is completed, Myitkyina falls. The airport built by the corporation falls into Japanese hands, and Zero fighters taking off from Burma bring China's only air route within their combat radius.

The US Tenth Air Force and the China National Aviation Corporation begin flying the route over the Himalayas, which was barely within the capabilities of the aircraft at the time. It becomes known as the Northern Hump Route. Xia Ke, MacDonald, and Chen Dingrui are assigned to fly it. The planes are old, navigation systems are lacking, and weather forecasts for Himalayan airspace are unavailable. Almost every day, aircraft crash, and people die.

Despite the many difficulties, Chen Dingrui and the others rely on their exceptional skills to overcome the obstacles and keep the route open.
