Winning Her Over

Fu Yunzhou first met Jiang Yueming on an April day, when the grass was growing lush and the birds were singing. The girl stood tall and graceful, like a tender sprout just pushing through the earth. She caught Fu Yunzhou’s attention at once. At first, he thought she was his father’s illegitimate daughter and gave her a hard time like a complete jerk, frightening her until she cried. Only later did he learn that she was the daughter of his family’s cook. Later still, they turned out to be classmates. The boy’s feelings grew wild as a seedling after spring rain... sincere and pure, yet also immature and ridiculous! Whenever a boy talked to Jiang Yueming, Fu Yunzhou would block him in the classroom and threaten him. Whenever a boy wrote Jiang Yueming a love letter, Fu Yunzhou would beat him up on the way home from school. He bullied Jiang Yueming’s childhood friend even more cruelly, going so far as to break the boy’s leg on the soccer field! Throughout their school years, Fu Yunzhou tried every trick in the book to get Jiang Yueming’s attention, turning himself from a devoted romantic into a deranged villain. He had no idea that all he was doing was pushing her farther and farther away. So Jiang Yueming avoided him for three whole years! When they met again, he grabbed her by the waist and gritted out, “Jiang Yueming, you’re the one who came after me this time!” As always, Jiang Yueming looked at him with disgust. “Fu Yunzhou, I’m already married!” “Then get a divorce!” “I have a child.” “I’ll raise them!” “You’re insane!” “Exactly. You’ll have to cure me!” He’d latched onto her again like a stubborn plaster, impossible to shake off. And this time, he stuck around for the rest of their lives!
