I studied under a master at Lushan in my early years and learned many skills. Later, thanks to my ties with Taoism, fate led me into government service, where I put my skills to work helping our country's criminal investigations.

Taoist metaphysics can, of course, help with criminal investigations.

In the old days, our country's technology was backward, and some major cases went unsolved for lack of clues. Asking us ritual masters to descend to the underworld and question ghosts was, in that historical context, a pretty good way to proceed.

Questioning ghosts in the underworld was only the tip of the iceberg. If you put several suspects together, I could identify the real culprit at a glance from the information in their birth charts.

Besides, in those days, the nation's fortune had yet to rise, and it couldn't suppress evil. Many demons and malevolent spirits endangered public safety across this land, and someone always had to deal with them.

It was only after society became stable in modern times that people like me gradually began to leave the stage of history.

In 1983, during a nationwide crackdown on crime, I happened to join the police. In that chaotic era full of opportunity, I rose steadily through the ranks.
