Do Not Bury the Dead

[Guidance from a professional Taoist Association priest] [Immersive, realistic subject matter] [No cultivation] [First person]

The term “Tao” comes from Laozi, who lived in the Spring and Autumn period.

“I do not know its name, so I call it Tao.”

With the emergence of the word “Tao,” China’s most representative religion, Taoism, eventually came into being.

My name is Li Cunren. Because of various experiences in my childhood, I found my way into the Taoist faith through a twist of fate.

In my early years, I practiced at Zhongshan Temple in Changsha, Hunan. Later, I moved from place to place across Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan.

If you ask which school I belong to, I can tell you that I am part of the Southern Mao tradition. I’m afraid I can’t say which specific lineage.

The main reason I’m writing this book is to introduce Taoist culture to the world through the internet.

I want ordinary people to gain a clear, comprehensive understanding of Taoist culture.

Of course, some people will inevitably ask by this point: Do gods, zombies, ghosts, and monsters really exist in this world?

My answer is yes.

And once I say that, people will inevitably accuse me of “feudal superstition.”

First, let me explain that science exists to disprove and discover.

People also misunderstand us Taoist priests, thinking we’re all con artists.

But in fact, we believe in science more than ordinary people do, and we’re far more learned, too. (I mean proper Taoist priests. Don’t lump us in with those who smoke, drink, visit prostitutes, and know nothing!)

This world is full of wonders, far beyond what ordinary people can see when they’re blinded by a narrow perspective.
