Growing Through War: Choosing the Right Path

In the early 20th century, Lin Feng was born into a wealthy family in Shanghai. Influenced by society and his older brother, he resolved to apply to the Whampoa Military Academy, determined to defend his country. He joined the Kuomintang and went through the Northern Expedition, the decade-long civil war, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the War of Liberation. Along the way, he met Li Linyue, the woman he loved. During the War of Liberation, Lin Feng finally saw the Kuomintang's corruption for what it was. His faith in the cause he had chosen began to waver, and he ultimately decided to lead his troops in an uprising and surrender to the People's Liberation Army, devoting himself to building a new China. After the People's Republic of China was founded, Lin Feng resolutely resigned from his military post and became a primary school teacher in Shanghai. But before long, the Korean War broke out, and United Nations forces led by the United States intervened, seriously threatening China's territorial security. After deliberation, several leaders of the new China decided to send troops to resist the United States and aid Korea. The soldier's fighting spirit within Lin Feng reignited. To defend his country, he enlisted in the 39th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers and entered Korea to fight, returning home only after the war ended.
