Synopsis

Legend has it that long, long ago, chaos spread across the Cat’s Head. There was a cat named Xiu who could resist its corruption. As he walked through Cat Land, he saw cats suffering terribly amid the chaos. They were miserable and helpless. The evil chaos could lead all living things astray. Kindhearted Xiu was tormented by his inability to save them. Just as he was about to despair, a golden light shot toward him. Following it, he discovered a huge golden gong: the Yuan Chu Gong. Xiu leaped up and struck it. The gong’s sound reverberated across Cat Land, and the power it unleashed dispelled all the chaos. Sunlight bathed the land, and life returned to Cat Land. Later, Xiu took on twelve disciples, who mastered the skills of hands, eyes, body, steps, singing, recitation, acting, fighting, accepting, supervising, recording, and judging. Together, they founded the Twelve Sects. These were the first Peking Opera Cats. But chaos was never completely eradicated. If a cat accidentally inhaled any of the remnants, it would turn into a monster. Only the Peking Opera Cats could save them. Xiu showed them how, then sent out a tremendous burst of light that drove the monsters away, turning them back into cats.
