Raising a Child, I Defy the Odds and Become Empress; The Emperor Spoils Me Rotten

Song Caiying thought her mother’s generous dowry would let her live a comfortable life, but one piece of bad luck followed another. First she became pregnant before marriage, then she was made a widow before the wedding to bring good fortune to her fiancé. But none of that mattered. She could turn her fortunes around. As long as she had money, why couldn’t she travel the world with her son?

But then she met the man she loved. She thought he was an ordinary merchant, but when he dropped his secret identity, she discovered he was the emperor. He was also the man she’d once carried on with. Now he’d come to demand a title. Should she run while she still had the chance, or just play dead?

“I don’t want to enter the palace and become empress. Please let me go.”

“My dear, we already have a child. How can you treat me like this? I promise to put you first in everything. All you have to do is live peacefully as my empress.”

“But you still have other women in the palace. I don’t want to see them.”

“I’ll send them away to get married tomorrow. Just say yes.” Ye Zixiu held Song Caiying tight, afraid she would leave him behind and travel the world.

Set in a world inspired by the Tang dynasty, but not entirely. Don’t look too closely at the details.
