Ma Yaoshen is a wandering doctor with extraordinary medical skills and an eccentric personality. He travels across the wasteland on a frail, bony old horse. He has saved countless lives, yet his steep fees and cold manner have made him a controversial figure. He has no interest in the “Core of Life,” but a chance encounter draws him into the adventure of searching for it.
Beng Zhiduoxing is a clever, silver-tongued thief who gets by in the wasteland using his wits. He's greedy, but still has a sense of justice, and can always talk his way out of danger. During a theft, he unexpectedly learns a clue to the “Core of Life” and decides to make it his chance to turn his life around.
The two meet over a rare plant called the “Bloodflame Flower.” From their initial distrust to being forced to work together, they embark on a perilous journey full of strange encounters. Along the way, they must face all kinds of threats in the wasteland, including the ruthless Ironclaw Gang, mutated creatures, and radiation storms. They must also solve the riddles left behind by an ancient civilization and uncover the secrets hidden deep within the wasteland.
