The Last Battle: The Korean War Through a British Soldier’s Eyes

The Korean War was the first war the British Army fought after World War II, and the only one in which it suffered a crushing defeat. With its national power in decline, Britain could barely cobble together a brigade to send to Korea. At the Battle of the Imjin River, it was nearly wiped out. Afterward, British forces faded from the Korean battlefield. This book was written by a renowned British military historian after gathering extensive materials and interviewing surviving British veterans. It provides a detailed, objective account of the history of British forces in the Korean War, with substantial research and polished prose, making it highly readable. Focusing solely on the British troops who took part in the war, it gives particular attention to the course of the fighting. It is therefore especially valuable in helping to fill gaps in Chinese scholarship on the military history of the Korean War, and is also likely to appeal to general readers in China.
