The Book of Good and Evil

The Book of Good and Evil is half written in red and half in black. It is said to have been compiled by Jiang Ziya, Lu Ban, Guiguzi, and others. The red text records benevolent methods for saving and helping people, while the black text records wicked arts for deceiving and harming them. In later generations, a carpenter came into possession of the book, took all the black text and a tiny portion of the red, and compiled them into a new volume called the Scripture of Curses. From then on, the carpenter's art of cursing spread throughout the world. Zheng Lusheng was born to an old widow and a solitary old man who had an affair. After people gossiped about them, he attacked someone with a knife and fled his hometown. While wandering the jianghu, he was kidnapped by human traffickers, but injured one of them and rescued a girl who had been abducted with him, Cao Wanchun. Years later, Zheng Lusheng met the old carpenter Cao Bulang. Following Cao Bulang's guidance, he caught the feng shui master Luo Jinpan in bed with his landlord's wife. Cao Bulang later took him on as an apprentice and gave him the new name Zheng Guobin. One day, while following a white snake that had snuck off to eat meat, Zheng Guobin stumbled upon a long-lost ancient book: The Book of Good and Evil!
