The Golden Age

This is a fairly long story, spanning several decades and tracing the tangled romances of two generations. Whether men or women, some people stand out from the crowd in relationships, blessed with extraordinary gifts. Though those gifts take different forms, men’s usually mean physical prowess, while women’s tend to be exceptional intelligence. But whoever they are, those who exploit their advantages to deliberately mess around in relationships, or even wreck other people’s families, are truly contemptible! And yet, looking back after several decades, you might find there are circumstances that make their actions somewhat understandable. As for why I’m forcing myself to write this despite the pain, perhaps first and foremost it is to bring comfort to the spirits of those I once knew who died unnatural deaths. Yes, I really brought this on myself. Back then, in a moment of madness, I agreed to write a book for someone. Now it feels as if some unseen force is compelling me to finish it, and I have no choice but to write. While drafting it, I even experienced one “paranormal” incident, which only made me more determined to see it through. After all, plenty of people may know their stories, but I may be the only one willing to put them down in writing. Let this be a trace they leave behind, like the cry of a wild goose passing overhead!
