Mighty Across the Eight Directions

Synopsis of Gu Long’s wuxia novel The Heroic Wind of the Eight Directions: Ghost Mother resents Shi Xuanzhong for taking Zhu Ling away, so she orders her disciple to frame Shi’s student, Shi Siwen, forcing Shi Xuanzhong to return to the martial world. Princess Qiongyao invites the various martial arts sects to a tournament, but they give her the cold shoulder. She seizes the opportunity to capture Siwen and abducts disciples from several sects, forcing Shi Xuanzhong and the sect leaders to attend. Zhu Ling’s student, Shangguan Lan, is also trapped while trying to save someone. Princess Qiongyao admires Shi Xuanzhong. While he and Zhu Ling are away rescuing their two students, she abducts Zhu Ling and holds their young son hostage, forcing Shi Xuanzhong to take her as his lover. Shi refuses to yield, even at the cost of his life. After enduring great hardship, he finally rescues everyone. On the day of the tournament, Princess Qiongyao sets traps to deal with the martial heroes, but Shi Xuanzhong arrives in time to save them. Ghost Mother then reveals to Princess Qiongyao that Zhu Ling is her half-sister, sharing the same father. Deeply remorseful, Qiongyao reconciles with her sister and makes peace with the various sects.
