The Snake Wife

My name is Su Xue. I was slow to develop as a child, and I’m not very smart. My grandpa was a Yin-Yang Master. Out of a moment of kindness, he saved someone, but a snake spirit tricked him, leading to my grandma’s tragic death. In his fury, he burned every snake on the entire back mountain. To avoid revenge from the Snake Venerable of the serpent clan, he sent me straight to a psychiatric hospital, then vanished with my parents. They say that before the mentally ill, all evil spirits are nothing. But the curse of “ghosts carrying the coffin, snakes escorting the bride” never went away. After enduring all kinds of strange trials, from yin-devouring ghosts and a haunted high-rise at midnight to man-eating fetuses and an evil fox’s grave, I thought he loved me and that we were finally free of schemes and hatred. But I never imagined it was all in my head. He had been using me all along. As I lay dying, I finally learned that I wasn’t really stupid. He had stolen the wisdom from my previous life. Later, he gave up his dragon bones to bring me back, pleading in anguish, “Xue, I was wrong. Please forgive me!”
