The Republican-Era Prince

I was born a hereditary prince, but the Qing Dynasty fell when I was only two. All those grand titles were empty and insubstantial, and I preferred a quiet life, enjoying the happiness of family and raising children. But then Japan, with its deep-seated enmity toward our nation, launched the September 18 Incident. I had no choice but to enlist again and fight across the battlefield. After years of campaigning, my father had left seven expert bodyguards to protect my family. I thank my brothers-in-arms for never abandoning me, even as we shed blood on the battlefield. Driven out by those who resented me, I had no choice but to leave that place of heartbreak. I led my brothers, bound to me by life and death, to resist the Japanese on our own and build an armed force of our own. In the end, the Japanese committed massive forces to slowly encroach on my base area for three years. Beset by internal and external troubles, the entire advance force was ultimately wiped out. The dawn sunlight shone on the advance force’s battle flag, as smoke filled the land.
