Mountains and Rivers, Shattered

September 18, 1931. The countdown to the suffering of our Chinese homeland has begun, but the Northeast is already in turmoil. Countless brave men take up arms and fight the Japanese invaders to the bitter end. I am no great man. I was stripped of my post as a battalion commander in the Fengtian Defense Force, but I have weapons hidden at home. I take my family and flee Fengtian for refuge in Beiping. Wu Asi bursts through the door and shouts, "Big Brother, take us to join the 29th Army! We want to cut down those Japanese devils!" The story is still long. Wait for me, and I'll wait for you too. This is a meticulously researched work of resistance against Japan, following the author's other novel about the bandits of Guandong Mountain. It delves further into the brutality of the Chinese theater of World War II, the hardships of the fourteen-year resistance in the Northeast, and the difficulties of the eight-year war in the interior.
