The Tang Dynasty 2

Over the more than two thousand years of China’s feudal history, the course of events moved forward along a winding path, advancing in waves. The Tang dynasty, with its prosperous economy, flourishing culture, and powerful state, is widely recognized as one of history’s high points. The father and sons of the Li family raised their troops at Jinyang, crossed the Yellow River to the west, seized Chang’an, and founded the Tang Empire. Palace intrigue and hidden daggers ultimately led to the Incident at Xuanwu Gate. Li Shimin ascended the throne, appointed capable people, made peace with Tubo through a marriage alliance, and secured the frontier, ushering in the Reign of Zhenguan... The curtain of history rises on one tumultuous scene after another, played out over the long river of time, with its rises and falls, prosperity and decline, glory and disgrace. This book tells the story of an unprecedentedly open and romantic empire, a Tang dynasty that rose to great heights before declining, yet has retained an enduring and lasting allure. It presents a remarkable legacy of achievement that the descendants of Huaxia can forever take pride in.
