Evolving from a Stone

Manjushri and Guanyin stood around a stone.

"Guanyin, that monkey's time is clearly up. Why hasn't he come out yet?"

"Let's wait a little longer!"

"All right!"

A hundred years later.

"Guanyin, Tripitaka has already set out. Why hasn't that monkey come out? Could he have suffocated inside the stone?"

"Manjushri, the journey west is of great importance. We mustn't rush things. We should wait patiently."

"Fine!"

Five hundred years later.

Manjushri asked again, "Guanyin, Tripitaka has already finished retrieving the scriptures. Are we still waiting?"

No!

This time, Guanyin was resolute. "The truth is already clear!"

"What truth?"

Guanyin took a deep breath. "The truth is, it turns out monkeys don't pop out of stones!"

Indeed... Manjushri's gaze gradually filled with admiration for Guanyin.

"As expected of the Bodhisattva!"
