Going Home

Home has always been the most miraculous bond, connecting every member who belongs to it. No matter how far away we go, in our hearts we are always on the road home, searching for that distant intimacy between ourselves and our parents, partners, and children.

Going Home was written by family therapy master Salvador Minuchin after he had spent thirty years working in family therapy. Beginning with his own family, Minuchin recounts, in an autobiographical style, the gradual growth of a family therapist. Following the family's journey through life, he combines real-life examples with portrayals of every stage, including the marital relationship, parent-child relationships, remarriage, and the passing of the years, sharing the experience, techniques, and wisdom he gained as a master of family therapy. The language is clear and conversational, and the explanations make profound ideas easy to understand. It draws readers in as though they were there, prompting reflection and insight into the truth.
