Heavenly Mystery

There's a hand in the heavens that exists only to kill immortals.

Xuantian, an orphan from the streets, is fourteen, and the thing he does best is endure. One rainy night, huddled beneath the gatehouse, he watches that hand reach through a gap in the clouds and slap a fleeing immortal to death on Mount Xuanyin. The next day, he climbs the mountain, half of which has collapsed, and finds a cultivation manual wrapped in oilcloth in the immortal's arms. Thus begins his path to immortality.

He thinks he has found a heavenly opportunity. He doesn't know that the spiritual energy of this world, its heavenly tribulations, and the ascension gates are all part of a scheme laid out by someone. All living beings cultivate bitterly for their entire lives, only to discover that the ascension they seek is a door to the slaughterhouse.

From the gatehouse of Luoyan City to the threshold of the Qingyun Sect, and then beyond the sky screen, Xuantian journeys onward, calculating every step of the way. He wants to understand just one thing: What exactly lies in the heavens?

Ascension means death. He insists on carving a way to survival for this world.
