The Day I Was Laid Off, I Found 4.28 Million at the Ghost Market

Du Changming, a 26-year-old e-commerce warehouse manager, has been adrift in Beijing for four years when he is suddenly laid off and denied his wages. At the end of his rope, with his landlord raising the rent and even his luggage about to be sold by the kilo as scrap, he accidentally cuts his hand on an old bronze scale left behind by his grandfather. The scale, once worth no more than its weight in scrap metal, drinks his blood and becomes a curious artifact capable of identifying the value of antiques. Whenever it encounters a valuable item overlooked by others, its weight quietly increases. Armed with the scale, Du Changming decides to return to his hometown of Xinghe County and start over by opening a secondhand goods shop. Faced with junk sold by the kilo at recycling depots and rules controlled by seasoned dealers, can he use his old scale to spot hidden treasures and turn his fortunes around in the world of secondhand goods, where it's hard to tell real from fake, and reclaim the dignity and life he deserves?
