Siheyuan: After Qin Huairu Refuses My Proposal, the System Finally Awakens

In a Beijing courtyard in the 1960s, Li Weiguo transmigrated there with a sign-in System several years ago, but it still hadn't activated. Back then, he tried to snatch Qin Huairu away, only to earn the Jia family's hatred and the whole courtyard's rejection. He became a loner, the odd one out among the residents. Then, before the old grudge over Qin Huairu rejecting him had even been settled, the long-dormant System finally chimed and woke up.

Daily sign-ins bring in cash, meat coupons, and bicycle coupons one after another. The moment he wheels a permanent 28-inch bicycle into the courtyard, Jia Zhangshi is so furious she starts cursing on the spot. Silly Zhu is so jealous he can barely hold his lunchbox, and Qin Huairu stands in the central courtyard, staring at the bike with a regret so deep it shows in her eyes. For the first time, the entire courtyard learns what it means for one person to live a life that makes everyone else green with envy.

Silly Zhu picks up a mousetrap carelessly discarded by the roadside and takes it home. By chance, it snaps off one of Banggeng's fingers as he sneaks in to steal something. The whole-courtyard meeting erupts into an argument. Silly Zhu pays fifty yuan in compensation, and the Jia family curses all night. Meanwhile, behind his closed door, Li Weiguo imitates Silly Zhu's handwriting on an anonymous letter revealing that Xu Damao is infertile, then sends it to Lou Zhenhua's desk. The show is only just beginning.
