The Tang Dynasty's Divine Con Man and Li Shimin

Zhang Wei, an executive at a major internet company, drank fake Maotai at the annual party and fell into a children's swimming pool. When he opened his eyes again, he had become a sixth-rank official in the third year of the Zhenguan era, so poor he could barely afford to eat. His first imperial edict ordered him to present a filial cake within three days, or come back with his head in his hands. He used the food videos he'd watched online to make milk tea and muddled through, only for Li Shimin to appoint him Tang's Food Innovation Commissioner. He had to come up with ten new products every month, or lose his head.

The Great Tang Spring milk tea shop unexpectedly became a hit. Delivery riders crisscrossed Chang'an, and user data recorded across seven bamboo scrolls sent the court into a frenzy. But Zhang Wei soon discovered that clients in this era were ten thousand times more outrageous than those at a big tech company. He had to put together KPI plans for the emperor, create a taste-testing official persona for Cheng Yaojin, teach Wei Zheng about OKRs, and even build a metaverse where people could see the dead within three months...

When Li Shimin climbed through the window late one night and asked where Zhang Wei had learned his skills, Zhang Wei knew the real KPI of this transmigration gig was only just beginning.
