Siheyuan: A Subdistrict Office Worker Takes on the Jia Family!

A street office clerk is shoved to the ground by Jia Zhangshi. After transmigrating, his first order of business is to settle the score.

He has a pocket dimension to rely on, so he has the means to improve his life and plenty of patience to deal with the people in the courtyard one step at a time. He sees right through the Jia family's tricks of whining about poverty and playing the victim, Yi Zhonghai's habit of pretending to be impartial while taking sides, and Silly Zhu's eagerness to let himself be taken for a fool. A street office clerk's official seal can suppress wrongdoing in plain sight, and a little ledger he keeps on him can record the dirty dealings done behind closed doors.

At the courtyard assembly, he turns the whole place upside down. Twenty yuan in compensation is demanded upfront. Jia Zhangshi's tantrums don't work, Yi Zhonghai's attempts to smooth things over don't work, and even Silly Zhu stepping in doesn't work. Yang Limin lays out the hospital receipts and lost wages in black and white, and takes the opportunity to call out the courtyard's long-standing, crooked rules. He'll get back what he's owed, and he'll establish the new rules while there's still time. As for how he'll help his grandmother build a better life, and make sure these people never dare take advantage of him again, that'll all happen one step at a time.
