Fantasy: Wandering Mage Delivers a Letter and Meets a Fox-Eared Elf Girl

Lin Gui, a wandering mage in New York City, accepted an A-rank delivery quest: take 54 family letters to Kalan City for a reward of 15 gold pieces. No one from the slums had made it through the Black Magic Forest in ten years. He had just returned alive from the Magic City, making him the whole city's only hope. On the day he set out, 679 letters filled his pack. Residents waved from the city walls, calling out, "Mage, make sure you come back safely!"

The Black Magic Forest had been thrown into chaos by a legendary demon. Lin Gui hid in a hollow in the grass and ran into a white-haired elven ranger named Xiya. With red eyes and pointed ears, she opened by asking him to join her in hunting Moragus, a legendary demon with a bounty of one million gold coins. Before she could finish speaking, a tide of demons swarmed them. Xiya left him with a final farewell, "I'll help you take care of..." then darted into the woods alone. Lin Gui breathed a sigh of relief and activated his Veil of the Dark Night, disappearing into the shadows of the trees.

In the distance, towering trees toppled one after another. The leader of the Golden Adventurers' Party had his skull crushed by a giant treant. Lin Gui held his breath in the shadows, the 679 letters in his backpack weighing heavily on his shoulders. The treant's roots were spreading toward his hiding place, and the magical runes on the oak staff in his hand were quietly beginning to glow.
