Siheyuan: Five Intelligence Reports from the Start, Time to Strike!

In 1958, Beijing is frozen solid. Lin Changsheng opens his eyes to find himself a trainee buyer at a steel mill, living in the worst rear-facing room in the entire courtyard compound, where icy winds blow through every wall and frost coats his bedding.

With the end of the month approaching, he is about to be sent to the workshop for failing his quota when the System suddenly activates, updating five pieces of intelligence every day!

Yi Zhonghai is organizing donations for the Jia family tonight? Jia Zhangshi has 543 yuan and 52 cents hidden away, yet pretends to be poor? Silly Zhu will drop five yuan when he steps over the threshold?

He picks up money from the start, then intercepts a farmer selling wild boars at the south city gate. One boar isn't enough? The farmer has five more!

His supervisor promises to make him a full-time employee and give him a bicycle if he brings in one more! Not enough money? Borrow it.

Xu Damao wants to learn the trick for dealing with Silly Zhu. Fifty yuan plus the right to use a bicycle, and it's a deal!

At the courtyard meeting, Yi Zhonghai pressures everyone to donate. Lin Changsheng flips the table: "Jia Zhangshi has more money than anyone else. Why should I go hungry to fatten her up?"

One sentence makes enemies of the whole compound. He turns around and heads straight to Yi Zhonghai's home, slapping a 300-yuan IOU on the table and using the courtyard committee's shady dealings as leverage!

In this lousy courtyard, nobody gets to push me around.

With the System on my side, it's time to change the way things are done in this courtyard!
