Sweet and Meaty

One bowl of braised pork sees through all the greed and delusion of the human world. A century-old dream of an ancient alley finally falls silent at Meat Meat Sweet.

The shop in the old alley opens at four in the morning. Every bowl of braised pork served by the proprietress conceals a great dream of reincarnation.

A judge eats the pork and dreams of a blade aimed at his own neck. A conqueror eats it and dreams of taking his own life by the Wu River.

Everyone seeks fulfillment in their dreams. Only the child who has not yet learned to lie takes a bite of the meat and says in a childish voice:

“The meat is sweet.”

This is the gentlest illusion in the human world, and the cruelest judgment of reincarnation.
