Film and TV Crossover: A First Meeting at the Teahouse, Then a Life Together with the Obsessive Ma Wencai

Sheng Wan transmigrates into the world of The Butterfly Lovers, with one goal: win over Ma Wencai, the original story's arrogant, domineering young master who turns to hatred when love goes unreturned. The first time he sees her, she's wearing a purple dress and sipping tea in a teahouse. The next day, she disguises herself as a boy and sneaks into the academy. He comes over to strike up a conversation, recognizing at a glance that she's a girl in disguise, but holds back from exposing her. "Brother Sheng, do you have any sisters at home? I met a young lady on the street the other day who looked very much like you."

Sheng Wan plays dumb. "That was my twin sister, Sheng Wan." Ma Wencai lowers his head with a smile, his eyes filled with possessiveness.

The broken engagement scandal erupts. Zhu Yingtai urges Huang Liangyu to elope, while Ma Wencai secretly fans the flames. The prefect Ma personally comes to call off the engagement. That night, Ma Wencai is locked in a dark room, trembling in a wardrobe as he clutches the glowstone Sheng Wan gave him. Sheng Wan stands outside the door and gently knocks three times. He jerks his head up, his voice hoarse. "A-Wan... is that you?"

A restorative pill slips through the crack beneath the door, along with a message: "Don't be afraid. When you come out, I'll go to the academy with you."
