Wuxia: Following Hong Xue, Drawing My Blade in the Night to Roam the Martial World

Fu Hongxue lived in seclusion deep in the mountains, and Ye Chen studied the saber under him for ten years. When the ten years were up, Ye Chen took one of Fu Hongxue's strikes. Fu Hongxue said, "That's enough. You've graduated."

The first thing Ye Chen did after coming down the mountain was invite his master for a drink. He had no money, so he squatted by the roadside looking for work, where he ran into a pauper calling himself Yan Qi. The two hit it off and hid in the grass to rob some bandits, only to stumble upon Li Hongxiu, the Beggars' Guild leader, murdering someone to silence them. Ye Chen intercepted her judge's pen with a single saber strike. Li Hongxiu stared at him for a long time, then called out, "Brother Ye Chen."

He had forgotten. Ten years ago, he had given half a loaf of bread to a little beggar who was starving to death. That little beggar was named Nangong Ling, and Li Hongxiu was her. The Japanese youth Wuhua, who had crippled every bone in Ye Chen's body back then, was Nangong Ling's own brother.

The Riches Manor hosted a banquet that lasted all night. Fu Hongxue drank too much, and Ye Chen led his horse down the mountain. Wine hung from the saddle, and inside his scabbard lay the fifty million saber swings he had accumulated over ten years. Yan Qi ran after him and handed him a black outfit she'd rushed to make overnight. "Put it on. Don't make me look bad." His saber was already drawn. He would see the jianghu again.
