Journey to the West: My Inner Thoughts Spoil the Plot, Forcing the Monkey to Lay Low with Me

Li Yan is a lowly servant in the Imperial Stables who only wants to quietly build up his cultivation, counting the days until he can enjoy a peaceful life. But when that monkey, Bimawen, suddenly gains the ability to hear every thought in his head, even catching him calling the monkey an idiot, Li Yan knows trouble is coming.

Forced to bind himself to a shared System, Li Yan's cultivation is wiped out whenever the monkey gets beaten, and every time the monkey causes trouble, Li Yan loses a day of keeping his head down. To protect his hard-earned progress, Li Yan has no choice but to coax and threaten this naturally troublesome rascal into behaving. Yet whenever he thinks he can finally relax, the monkey digs something new out of his mind: the Great Tribulation of Journey to the West, Five Elements Mountain, Patriarch Bodhi. Each revelation is more dangerous than the last.

The pieces have long been set in motion behind the scenes. Guanyin appears in the dead of night, an old snub-nosed monkey bares its fangs, and the armies of the Four Seas Dragon Palaces are closing in. Li Yan wants to keep his head down until he becomes invincible, but dragged into the heart of the maelstrom, he soon realizes that avoiding trouble today won't save him tomorrow. He has only two choices: let the monkey drag him into the pit, or overturn the whole game himself.
