American Comics: From the Start, I Sell Knockoff Black Tech and Make a Killing in Arms

In 2010, in Sokovia, it was Carl's third year since transmigrating into Marvel. With a knockoff technology System, he had turned Umbrella Corporation into a ghost lurking in the global black-market arms trade.

Jericho Missiles went for fifteen million apiece on the black market. They cost him twenty thousand to make, and he resold them to a Middle Eastern emir for nineteen and a half million each. After Stark shut down his weapons division, Carl swooped in and took over the market, selling thirty thousand containers of missile equipment in one fell swoop. The buyers promptly used the weapons to drive the U.S. military back again and again.

S.H.I.E.L.D. sensed something was wrong. Black Widow infiltrated Umbrella's headquarters, where the Red Queen tracked her every move. She searched the archives but found no trace of the Hive, while Carl watched the surveillance feeds downstairs with a glass of red wine. Meanwhile, another major deal had been sealed: five hundred Tomahawks and three THAAD systems, for a total of three hundred billion. One third of the payment would be made in test subjects.

At a prison in Morocco, Ivan Vanko had just been sprung by Justin Hammer's men when Ada Wong and twenty armed soldiers intercepted him along the way. Three days later, the Arc Reactor technology had been completely extracted from Vanko's brain. Umbrella's plan to mass-produce Iron Man Armor was officially underway.
