Chasing My Dreams in Showbiz from the Start, Hiroshi Nohara Becomes a Top-Tier Star

Nohara Hiroshi wakes up to find himself in Japan in the early 1990s. The bubble economy has yet to burst, and the streets are thick with the scent of money and opportunity. In this life, he has no intention of being an office worker following the same old routine. He wants to break into the entertainment industry.

Armed with a treasure trove of entertainment-industry knowledge from his previous life, he first makes a name for himself in the manga world with Yu Yu Hakusho, then uses the horror animation Yamishibai to open the doors of Tokyo TV. On his very first day, he is dragged into office factional infighting. His direct superior is jointly suppressed by a rival and the executives, and Hiroshi's own project gets its budget slashed and its price pushed down. The female section chief in the review department, famous for her pickiness, watches the footage expecting to find fault. But when it's over, she takes off her glasses, stares at the crude videotape, and says two words: "A genius."

That afternoon, the approval stamp comes down with a heavy thud. That night, while Iwata Masao is still in Deputy Director Takada's office bragging about his million-yen luxury project, Takeshita Ai slides the Yamishibai sample into the projector and says to the executives filling the room: "Why don't we watch this first?"
