Abyss of the Old Ones: The Librarian

"The truths of this world lie hidden in taboos. Those who glimpse the gods are doomed to madness. This is an iron law for everyone, except me."

As the keeper of countless forbidden books, I can withstand mental corruption and translate the mad whispers of the Old Gods into a ladder of ascension to godhood.

The "True God" worshipped by the Church is nothing more than a clumsy impostor to my ears;

The monsters hunted by the Inquisition are merely experimental specimens in my eyes;

When the chief executioner, her white rose stained with blood, presses her sword to my throat, she has no idea that the salvation she seeks is knowledge I stole from the abyss.

I am the fire-bringer who steals knowledge, and the only sane god walking among humankind.
