Song of the Azure Firmament

In the distant ancient past, Pangu separated heaven and earth, and the Six Realms came into being. Humans, immortals, demons, monsters, and ghosts appeared, setting off a calamity among the immortals. The calamity brought devastation to countless lives, and the remains and souls of all the dead were buried at the edge of the world, on the borders of the Six Realms.

A thousand years later, these remains and souls absorbed the essence of the sun and moon and vital energy. After passing through the tunnel of reincarnation, they were reborn throughout the Six Realms. The protagonist, Bi Luoge, sets out to find the Mirror of Reincarnation in hopes of reuniting with his beloved from a past life, Luo Qingyi.

Bi Luoge and Luo Qingyi pick snow lotuses on Mount Tianshan at the edge of the world. After consuming them and absorbing the essence of the sun and moon and vital energy, they cultivate for a thousand years and become immortals. They ascend to the Celestial Court to find Luo Qingyi, Bi Luoge's beloved from a past life. But Bi Luoge's arrival enrages the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother. They throw Luo Qingyi into the heavenly prison, where she is to remain for five hundred years.

When Bi Luoge learns what happened, he bravely challenges the Celestial Court, engaging in fierce battles with its heavenly soldiers and generals and a host of immortals. In the heat of battle, Bi Luoge displays such tremendous power that the immortals are helpless against him. With no other choice, the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother release the immortal maiden Luo Qingyi.
