Hong Kong Films: Breaking Hell, The Funeral Director

"A funeral Taoist helps the deceased pass on, while a funeral director helps the living pass on."

"How can the living be helped to pass on?"

"Everyone has a hell of their own. If you have greed, anger, and delusion, you'll have a hell."

"You perform rituals to help the deceased escape hell, while he goes out and helps the living escape theirs."

"Do you believe in hell? I do. But hell isn't waiting after death. It's in our hearts."

"We don't just help the dead move on. We also seek comfort and answers for the living."

"Let the departed rest in peace, and the living be at ease!"

"The last party of a person's life should be lively and dignified!"

That's right, I'm your funeral director and host today, Wei Daosheng.

He was once a gifted wedding planner, but business was dismal and Daosheng was buried in debt, so he was forced to switch careers and become a funeral director.

There's a saying in the funeral business that women who die wearing red are the most fearsome...

Some things just can't be explained by science. We face them with reverence and respect...
