A Top Official Drops In, Executing Hou Liangping from the Start

A village Party secretary in Handong works diligently all his life, but after he dies, he's falsely accused of embezzling funds meant for road construction, and his estate is set to be confiscated.

Hou Liangping is assigned to investigate, but doesn't want to waste time on such a minor case.

He makes a cursory investigation and hastily declares the man guilty.

When challenged, Hou Liangping turns right and wrong on their heads:

"Your grandpa was framed? If he was innocent, why was he reported? If he wasn't embezzling, why was he so concerned about the road construction?"

Fortunately, Chen Yan, the most important leader in Longguo, happens to notice the case.

After investigating thoroughly, he clears the village Party secretary's name.

Hou Liangping is also disciplined for dereliction of duty.

But instead of reflecting on his mistakes, he holds a grudge against Chen Yan, makes trouble for him at every turn, and even arrests him on trumped-up charges!

That day, the phone rings in General Zhao Mengsheng's military district office.

The army enters Handong.

Sha Ruijin, Hou Liangping, and the others are seized on the spot and charged with treason!

That day, Handong's skies changed!
