Siheyuan: From the Start, Waking Up in a Widow's Kang Bed

Li Xiangqian transmigrates into the world of Love in the Courtyard in 1960.

That year, a nationwide drought strikes, affecting 44.63 million hectares, and hundreds of millions of people go hungry.

On top of that, policies such as “grit your teeth and pay back the debts” and the “Great Leap Jump” arrive at just the wrong time, bringing the newly founded China to its most difficult moment since the founding of the nation.

Everyone racks their brains to fill their stomachs, trying every possible way to survive.

Rural people begin fleeing famine on a massive scale, while city dwellers tighten their belts and grow gaunt and pale.

Li Xiangqian’s golden finger is a large agricultural wholesale market.

He is cautious to a fault and dares not let anyone see his wealth in this era.

Then one time, at Dawangzhuang Commune, he simply cannot bear to let Widow Wang’s eldest daughter starve to death, so he secretly gives them a little help. To his surprise, Widow Wang insists on climbing into his bed.

It’s not as if he can just kick her out.

With no other choice, he washes up and goes to sleep!

But he never expects the number of women in his bed to keep growing. Every time he goes to the countryside for work, it’s painful and pleasurable in equal measure!

Back in the courtyard, the busybodies also notice that fair-complexioned Li Xiangqian seems suspicious. His family must have food stored away!

So they start plotting against him for the sake of the grain.

Li Xiangqian: I’m not putting up with your rotten habits!
