The Rivalry of Chu and Han

At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Liu Bang, the pavilion chief of Sishui, raised a rebellion after slaying a serpent. He launched his uprising from Pei County and became Duke of Pei. In keeping with his agreement with King Huai, he seized Guanzhong. He had expected to become its King, but Xiang Yu pushed him aside and enfeoffed him as King of Han instead. Liu Bang endured humiliation and bided his time, openly building plank roads while secretly crossing the Cang River, all to contend with Xiang Yu for the realm. He suffered defeat after defeat, but finally prevailed in the Battle of Gaixia and forced Xiang Yu to his death. From then on, history had another great emperor, along with many tales of romance.
