Dream of the Red Chamber: From Jia Family Adopted Son to Emperor

The world of Dream of the Red Chamber, the second year of the Shiyuan reign of the Great Qi.

That year, the northern Beiliang barbarians invaded in force and advanced to the gates of the capital. The Han people's realm was on the brink of collapse.

To secure peace, the emperor sent the eldest legitimate grandson of the imperial family to the Beiliang cavalry and signed the Shiyuan Pact, ending the Beiliang cavalry's continued invasions.

History calls it "Trading a Son for Peace."

That same year, the King of Beiliang abandoned the Great Qi imperial family's eldest legitimate grandson by the Huitong River and rode away.

By the river, a woman out on a spring outing spotted a baby barely clinging to life in the water. She picked him up and brought him to the Rongguo Mansion in the capital.

Eighteen years later, Jia Chen had been a concubine-born adopted son of the Rongguo Mansion for over a year, and was nominally Jia Baoyu's younger brother. His identity was humble and his status low.

During that year, he often met with an old man at a residence in the outskirts of the capital and told him about the Rongguo Mansion's sordid affairs.

Then one day, the old man brought a force of imperial guards and civil and military officials into the Rongguo Mansion, raised his arm, and shouted, "Welcome the imperial grandson back to the palace to take the throne!"

At that moment, everyone in the Rongguo Mansion was stunned!
