I Just Became a Brocade-Clad Guard, and You Tell Me This Is Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio

Li Mo transmigrates to the twenty-third year of the Chenghua era in the Ming Dynasty. For nine years, he devotes himself to the imperial examinations, hoping to rise in status, but repeated setbacks make him give up on the exams.

Then, that very day, the Embroidered Uniform Guard offers him a position.

On the day he joins, the company commander sends him on a trial mission.

Li Mo accepts without hesitation. His first task: spend a night at Lanruo Temple.

Easy!

But once Li Mo enters Lanruo Temple, he realizes this Ming Dynasty isn't quite what it seems. A woman in white flies through the air.

Vines fill the sky and transform into people, sucking out souls.

A woman gnaws on a baby...

When someone dies, their soul does not disperse. In the underworld, officials play music and blow horns to lead the dead into the netherworld, preventing them from ascending to heaven. This is called the delusion of spirits.

I am Li Mo, a mounted inspector of the Spirit Apprehension Bureau, part of the Embroidered Uniform Guard!

With me here, all ghosts are forbidden to roam!

But as time passes, Li Mo discovers that the most terrifying things aren't ghosts or monsters... but the human heart!
