Great Ming: This Censor Really Doesn't Care If He Lives or Dies

He was the first person in the Ming Dynasty to dare point at Zhu Yuanzhang's nose and curse him out.

He was the first person in the Ming Dynasty to embezzle millions of taels and still be held up by Zhu Yuanzhang as a model official.

He dared to speak his mind and remonstrate openly. The upright officials saw him as a pillar of strength, and scholars across the realm looked up to him as a role model, yet he was the leader of a whole gang of corrupt officials.

Every time he attended court, he felt ill at ease if he didn't curse out Zhu Yuanzhang.

The princes and imperial grandsons all kept their distance from him, because when he got riled up, he would beat even them.

As for those overbearing nobles, they looked at him as if he were a ghost.

Many years later, as Zhu Yuanzhang lay dying,

Su Bai said to him, "Old Zhu, I just want to die. Why can't you grant me that?"
