How Did You Actually Believe It?

Pei Jiao was terminally ill at a young age. Before he died, he asked a friend to arrange a mysterious funeral for him.

On the day of the funeral, the sky was shrouded in dark clouds.

Dozens of white-haired, bearded old men, dressed in Taoist robes and carrying Taoist swords on their backs,

formed Taoist hand seals facing Pei Jiao's direction.

In unison, they cried out, "Farewell, fellow Daoist, as you ascend to immortality!"

...But they hadn't expected to take the act too far. The neighbors were completely convinced, and the story even made it into the local newspaper.

Hundreds of years later, with humanity facing an invasion by a higher demon race, desperate humans chose to resurrect Pei Jiao as their savior and strongest champion.

As all of humanity looked at him with eager hope, the resurrected Pei Jiao was still trying to figure out how to explain everything away.

Then came a cry: "Sword, come!"

And Pei Jiao realized...

He really had become a Sword Immortal!?
