Thunder City

On a ** island in the South China Sea stood a city called Thunder City.

Just as its name suggested, thunder rumbled every night, while red clouds shimmered with purple lightning, making it seem like a hell on earth.

Gold lay scattered throughout the city, and its walls were built of crystal.

Every sailor longed to see it.

There was an old man who had returned from Thunder City.

He showed off its splendor, and spoke of its horrors.

Whenever he mentioned the palace's **, his eyes seemed ready to burst.

But whenever he talked about the treasure, his face lit up.

The old man said, “Thunder City was built atop endless treasure. By day, it gleams with gold and jade, but at night it turns into worthless yellow earth. The treasures in Thunder City must never see moonlight…”

“Every night, thunder roars without end, red clouds hang beneath purple lightning, and the rain lashes while the wind howls…”

“The lights never go out all night. Look through a window, and all you'll see are dry bones. Even the food and wine fall to the ground through their bones…”
