Great Tang: I Told You to Play the Crown Prince, Do You Even Know What That Means?

In the first year of the Zhenguan era, Li Er was humiliated into signing the Treaty of the Wei River. That same year, Crown Prince Li Chengqian suddenly fell gravely ill and was near death.

Rumors spread among the people, claiming Li Er had seized the throne illegitimately and incurred Heaven's wrath. To silence the rumors, Li Er chose a boy from among the common folk who looked like the crown prince and had him impersonate the prince.

Once the false crown prince took his place, he distinguished himself through civil and military accomplishments.

"Congratulations, Your Majesty. The crown prince has eradicated a plague and controlled a flood. People are saying he is blessed by Heaven."

"Congratulations, Your Majesty. The crown prince has campaigned west against Tuyuhun and destroyed the Eastern Turks. The officials all say the Li Tang dynasty's golden age is within reach."

At last, a million soldiers surrounded Chang'an, and the civil and military officials petitioned Li Er: "Your Majesty, it is time to abdicate!"

Li Er wailed, "I told you to impersonate the crown prince! Do you even know what impersonate means? How could you pass yourself off as the real thing and destroy my Li Tang dynasty?"
