Rotten Moon Tide Rising
About This Novel
Archaeologist Kerlion's waking nightmare begins with a pocket watch that turns counterclockwise. When the bronze astrolabe salvaged from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean begins to map the stars in his skull, the remains of the erased English seaport town emerge from the memory gap. The Victorian inn grew gill slits on full-moon nights, and under the scales exposed by the townspeople's peeling off human skin, boiled the blood of the Deep Ones dedicated to the Great Old Ones. Here, tides are the breath of living creatures, and moonlight is the catalyst for corruption. Whenever the bloody full moon emerges from the rotting clouds, the whalebone wind chimes of the underwater temple will ring, converting human souls into nerve impulses that awaken Cthulhu. The protagonist who is trying to decipher the secret of the bronze box is gradually becoming a flesh-and-blood tunnel connecting the two eras - his retina is imprinted with the coordinates of the stars' return, but his heart has already mutated in response to the sacrificial drumbeats of the deep divers.
